Sedation
Dentistry
Dental anxiety is more common than many people realize, but it shouldn’t prevent you from receiving the care you need. Sedation dentistry helps patients feel calm, comfortable, and relaxed throughout their dental appointments, making treatment a more positive experience from start to finish.
At Woodruff Dental, your comfort is one of our highest priorities. Whether you’re nervous about an upcoming procedure, have a strong gag reflex, or simply want a more relaxing visit, we offer safe sedation options that allow you to receive quality dental care with greater confidence and ease. Sedation Treatment Options
Every patient has different comfort needs, which is why we offer personalized sedation recommendations based on your medical history, treatment plan, and anxiety level.
Laughing Gas (Nitrous Oxide)
Nitrous oxide, commonly known as laughing gas, is a mild form of sedation that helps you feel relaxed while remaining awake and able to communicate during treatment.
The medication is inhaled through a comfortable nose mask, takes effect within minutes, and wears off quickly once your appointment is complete. Many patients are even able to drive themselves home afterward.
Oral Conscious Sedation
Oral conscious sedation involves taking a prescribed medication before your appointment to promote a deeper sense of relaxation. Although you’ll remain awake and responsive, many patients feel so comfortable that they remember very little about their procedure.
Because the effects last longer than nitrous oxide, you’ll need someone to drive you to and from your appointment.
